Star Wars Pancakes

These I made gluten-free with a set of Star Wars pancake shapes from Williams and Sonoma. I probably won't do gluten-free again--they tasted more chewy than fluffy. Roy thought it was fun and compared it to eating fake food a la McDonald's: "Like eating almost-food."

St Patrick's Day

Vegan Guinness pie and boiled cabbage for the Irish in me.
Traditional and nontraditional--fake meatballs, russet potatoes, mushrooms of several varieties (portabello, crimini, blue) with a reduction based in Guinness. Homemade crust, naturally. Took lot of prep and cook time on the stove before baking for about an hour. Roy ate the whole thing in about an hour and promptly passed out.

Drunken Noodles/Seaweed salad/Inari and Rice with Furikake

I termed it drunken noodles even though it doesn't exactly follow the recipe as such merely because I have no other idea what to call it. The sauce is made like a peanut sauce but with a mushroom base with smoked tofu and vermicelli noodles topped with peanuts and dried shallots. It's only my second time making Inari so I had some trouble with the proportions on the first one but he'll never know as I gave him my second and third attempts (^_^)

Food I make for Roy

I have a wonderful, handsome, loving and in all ways spectacular boyfriend. The one thing he cannot do, however, is cook. I am sure he could if he put his mind to it but, as much as he loves good food, he loves eating food fast a lot more. Consequently, if left to his own devices he only eats off-brand mac and cheese and pasta with a box of parmesan.
Then he meets me.
I am a real cook.
I can really cook.
No really.
Trust me.
I am extremely insecure (spoiler alert; am a woman.) but there is one thing I am confident in and it is cooking.
This is a blog devoted to all things I make for Roy.
